Whilst it is not a good strategy to hold on to ING in the hope of an easy -ING bonus if you do find yourself with ING then it is natural to first look for any obvious -ING bonus play. Maybe you find one but it won't fit on the board. That's when it can help to know if there is an anagram of the word which might otherwise be difficult to spot in isolation, the -ING word being the prompt. Even a common word of unusual formation can be difficult to see without such a prompt. For example with the rack GHINOTT it is easy to unravel HOTTING but it may only be then that TONIGHT is triggered as its anagram.
